We get a number of players who kindly offer to be staff for the server. This is fantastic as we are always looking for the right players to join our staff team.

We do not advertise vacancies for staff roles. Instead we are always open for the right people to join our team.

To determine whether we feel you are ready to be staff there are certain things we look for which I have listed for you below. I advise you read these points before you submit any application to avoid disappointment and know in advance what we would automatically advise you to work towards before we would consider you ready.

What we look for in future Staff Members:

-Active on the forums: there is a minimum amount of posts you need to have made before we would consider you ready in this area. We have found in the past that players who are on the forums frequently are confident with the layout and familiar with other users. This means we know you are more likely to be able to direct a player to certain FAQs if they are confused and can discuss the benefits of the forums with ease.

Please don't just focus on the number of posts you have made. We look for quality of your posts too. We like to see other players are marking your posts as helpful, you have received a number of likes for your posts, you have forum achievements and even medals! All these point to an active and vital member of the HCSurvival community and someone we would like to be part of our staff team.

FYI - If you have had to ask a member of staff how to apply to be a staff member and where the applications are on the forum we will immediately get the impression you are not as familiar with the server as we would like...

-Active on the Server: while we know that everyone has times they cannot be online we typically ask that staff members give up to an hour of their time to the server each day when possible. It is nice to see that players who are applying to be staff are already achieving this minimum.

While we do look for time spent online we also look about how you spend your time online. Are you helping players while you are in game? Are you building community projects? Helping others where you can? This type of thing is something we like to see. If we know you are already well known by fellow players for helping, it will really work in your favour.

-Active on Discord: Discord is used a lot by the staff team. Its our main platform to communicate on. Therefore we would expect any future staff members to have access to Discord and know how to use it. If we frequently see you on Discord, talking to your fellow players and helping where you can then we will be able to take your application seriously.

Once you have decided you are ready to apply for staff you can fill out an application. The application will ask you some basic questions. Then you will be invited to write why you would like to be staff and why we should pick you. It is important to make a detailed response here. The more information you give us about yourself the easier it is for us to decide how you can fit in our staff team. Try to double check your spelling and grammar as much as possible. Staff have to be able to communicate clearly and this application (as well as your forum posts) will allow us to see if this is something you are able to do. If English isn't your first language then please do not worry, just try your best :)

Once you have submitted an application please refrain from asking staff about it. We will respond to all apps as soon as possible. However we like to keep all applications open long enough for all staff members to read and consider so replies will not be instant.

If we like your application then you will recieve a response asking you some additional questions. Once you respond to these, again all staff members need to read your answers. During this time your application may stay open for a longer period of time. This is when staff members are watching you. We want to see you demonstrating your helper abilities so we know that you are the right choice for our staff team.

Applications must be posted as a new thread in this forum. Please copy and paste the following template into your post and answer the questions appropriately:

-IGN for Forums, Discord and Server:
-What is your favourite part of HCSurvival?
-If you could change one thing on HCSurvival what would it be?
-In your own words please explain why you would like to be a member of staff and why you think we should choose you?
-Have you received any in game punishment? If yes please explain: when this was, what this was for, and why we should trust you to now follow the rules?
-Have you made at least 20 forum posts?
-Have you posted on server discord in the last 24 hours?
-Have you been a member of the server for at least 1 week?
-Do you understand that asking a staff member about your application after it has been submitted can result in your application being closed?

Please note if you answer "no" to any of the last 4 questions your application will not be successful. Please make sure you can turn these around before making your application. If you ignore this and post anyway it shows that you might not be able to follow simple instructions which is not what we want to see.

If you have any questions about the staff application process then please feel free to send me a message on the forums :)
